India’s Next Match: How to Confirm the Schedule and Where to Watch It

“India next match” is one of the most-typed phrases in Indian search, and it is answered badly almost everywhere. Half the pages that come back were written for a series that finished months ago; the other half list a time without saying which time zone it is in. This Jai Club guide gives you the method instead of the answer — the official sources, how the international calendar is actually built, how to read a start time correctly, and how to confirm which broadcaster has the rights this time. We publish no fixtures, scores or predictions ourselves.

Why We Do Not Publish a Fixture Table

Cricket schedules are less fixed than fans assume. Series are moved to accommodate tournaments, matches are added or removed, venues change, start times shift for broadcast reasons, and weather rewrites the last few days of a tour. A schedule table published in July can be comprehensively wrong by September, and there is no mechanism that tells a reader the page they landed on has gone stale.

It is the same reasoning behind our refusal to print live scores or lottery numbers: a stale figure presented confidently is worse than no figure at all. What follows does not go out of date, because it is a method.

The Four-Source Check, in Under a Minute

1. Start at the board. The BCCI publishes India’s official schedule, squads and match information. If the board has not announced it, it is not confirmed.
2. Cross-check the fixtures list. ESPNcricinfo maintains fixtures across every team and competition in one place, usually with local and IST times shown.
3. Check the series page, not a news article. The dedicated page for the current series carries the venue, the match number and the confirmed start time.
4. Confirm the broadcaster separately. Rights are sold by territory and by cycle. The channel or app that carried the last series may not carry this one.

How the Calendar Is Actually Built

Behind every fixture sits the Future Tours Programme, the multi-year agreement between the ICC and its member boards that decides which teams play each other, in which formats, and in which windows. It is the reason a series appears “out of nowhere” to a casual fan: it was scheduled years ago, but the specific dates and venues were only confirmed by the boards a few months out.

Two consequences are worth holding on to. First, a series being “in the FTP’ does not mean the dates are final — the framework sets the window, the boards set the days. Second, the FTP is revised, which is why fixture lists published a long way in advance are the least reliable ones on the internet.

Which “India” Are You Looking For?

A surprising share of confused fixture searches are actually a mismatch between teams. There are several India sides playing at any given time, and search results mix them freely.

Start Times, the Toss and IST

A published start time is the scheduled first ball, not the beginning of the broadcast. The toss is normally held around half an hour earlier, and for many fans it is the more useful moment to tune in for — the team sheets are confirmed there and nowhere before.

For overseas tours, do the time-zone conversion once and write it down rather than recalculating per match. Day-night fixtures, matches in the Caribbean or Australia, and anything in the UK during British Summer Time all produce IST times that surprise people. If the fixture listing offers an IST display option, use it and skip the arithmetic entirely.

Where to Watch, and What to Avoid

Broadcast and streaming rights in India are sold in cycles and change hands more often than fans expect. The reliable route is the official series announcement, which names the rights holder for the territory, and the broadcaster’s own listings for the exact channel or app.
